I alone stand in the darkness
I listen for some sign of life
A sigh, a breath, a scream
Something to show I'm not alone
But all I find is silence

They left, one by one
Till I was left behind
Masques, and Gowns, and colorful fans
Gone in a swirl of sound

Fled are the actors
The set piece rolled away
The curtain closed
And house lights dimmed

In this emptiness
Fear and Pain
Hurt and Despair
Unveil their macabre drama

I alone watch
Accompanied by the world
When the Heavens are the theatre
And the human mind the stage
